Alien Invasive Species and the aquarium industry The ornamental aquatic industry is assumed by many to play a role in the introduction of invasive alien species (IAS), which is not surprising, considering that each year the industry is responsible for the distribution of millions of specimens of thousands of species of ornamental fish, crustaceans, mollusks, cnidarians and aquatic plants worldwide.
